Discover the Surroundings of Shoal Bay West
Welcome
to Paradise
Tucked away in the northern Caribbean, Anguilla is a shy beauty with a warm smile. A slender length of coral and limestone fringed with green, the island is ringed with 33 beaches, considered by savvy travelers and top travel magazines, to be the most beautiful in the world. A fantastic culinary scene, a wide variety of quality accommodations at varying price points, a host of attractions and exciting calendar of festivals make Anguilla an alluring and entrancing destination.
unspoiled Natural Beauty
- Shoal Bay West is one of Anguilla’s most unknown and unspoiled stretches of coastline, offering a quiet alternative to the island’s more well-known beaches. Set along the southwest coast, it features soft white sand, clear turquoise water, and wide open views—often with St. Martin visible in the distance. With gentle waves, minimal development, and a naturally secluded feel, it’s the kind of place made for long walks, peaceful swims, and simply enjoying the calm beauty of the Caribbean.
the Sand in your toes
Shoal Bay West is ideal for a relaxed beach walk, though it’s not especially long. The shoreline runs for roughly half a mile, making it easy to stroll from one end to the other in about 10–15 minutes. Many visitors enjoy walking it multiple times, especially during quieter parts of the day. The sand is smooth and easy underfoot, and the open, uncrowded setting makes it feel peaceful and unhurried—perfect for a gentle morning or sunset walk.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling at Shoal Bay West is best suited for those looking for a calm, easy experience rather than vibrant reef exploration. The water is typically clear and gentle, making it enjoyable for a casual swim with a mask, especially on calm days. While there isn’t an extensive reef system right off the beach, you can still spot small fish, patches of seagrass, and occasional marine life along the rocky areas near the edges. It’s a peaceful, low-key spot to float and explore at your own pace, rather than a destination for more advanced snorkeling.
Dining & Local Flavours
Anguilla’s West End is widely known as the island’s dining hub, offering some of the most memorable restaurants in the Caribbean—from relaxed beachfront spots to elegant fine dining with sunset views. With a mix of local flavors and international influences, it’s a place where you can just as easily enjoy fresh fish tacos in the sand as a refined, multi-course dinner overlooking the sea.
Beach walks
Coastal walks are the highlight, especially along beaches like Shoal Bay East, Meads Bay, Rendezvous Bay and Shoal Bay West, where you can cover a lot of ground with beautiful views the entire way.
Overall, Anguilla is less about rugged hikes and more about easy, scenic exploration.
